Education is not a freedom everyone has. In some countries accessing education seems like a sin, being able to have an education is something people can be against. Some cases such as the Nigeria hostage have brought to light that women should have the right to education. Here in the U.S we might not see it but it’s happening all over the world, girls being sold or being murdered just because others don’t want them to have the liberty to learn.
For example in the case of Malala Yousafzai. In an afternoon of October 9, 2012, Malala boarded her school bus to go to school. A Taliban man suddenly asked her name and pointed at her with a gun which fired 3 times, One of the bullets hit her on the head. In the days the attack just had recently occurred she remained unconscious and very critical. Later her health improved and she was able to be send to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham located in England. About 50 Islamin then try to find who were the ones who try to kill Malala, but the Taliban man who had put Malala’s life in risk try to kill her father and her again. But Malala and her father survived.
The assassination attempt was noticed was around the world by important magazine and Malala was rewarded with many important awards. Malala on April 29, 2013 was an issue in TIME magazine and was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. Stephen Harper, Canadian Prime Minister, was the first one to sign a petition requesting that Malala should win a Nobel Peace Prize. She is also nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for the 2nd time. Malala was even offered a scholarship at the University of King’s College. She is activist for women right to education.
