FANCY DAY!!!

Some tips I can give you to look your best in Fancy Day is the following:

• If you dont have time to buy a new outfit just look in your closet and wear a used dress or outfit that you have not weared in school.
• Try to look for the appropriate size  outfit so that you feel comfortable in it and you don't feel a bit  shy.
• Wear something you like not just because someone else has it or because its ‘’in fashion’’.
• Be yourself and try to make your own style, be unique and have FUN!!!
• try to be as fancy as you can.
• If you are a shy girl then on fancy day try to be extraordinary and let your shy personality out.
• Be confident and try to participate the most you can, be with friends, and have FUN!!!

WELCOME TO OUR NEW EDITION OF 89 MAGAZINE!

Welcome back everyone, to our new edition of 89 Magazine. I am excited for everyone to read and see all this diversity of topics. This year we have brand new things coming soon.   We  have different corners such as fashion, video/games, middle school, music, and  art/graphic. We also have staff from last year such as Ms.Celina, Keissy and me. Our new staff include Graciela Yagual, Yomileiny Santana, Carolina Paulino, Michelle Cuzco, Daniela Gomez, Michelle Guzman, Hema Premchand, Daniela Barrios, Kimberly Bueno, Casey Benitez  Vaca, Celianny Lopez, Leana Martinez, Solange Alies Santana, Franchezca Amador, Michelle Vite Guerra, Sabrina Banegas.

Fashion 89 will be about the latest fashion trends and ideas to make your uniform become the cutest thing ever. The Arts/Graphics department will be about some of the art work that  the girls are doing. While the Music Notes is about the reviews that the girls do about hottest songs. While the Middle School Corner tells you tips that can help you in school. And finally, Keissy and I will be doing different types of topics as reviewing, games, and videos. That’s all folks. Career Day NBA Edition by Bryan Adames

Today Friday, May 31 st was Career Day.  Lots of different people came in to our school to speak to us about the different choices we have about choosing a career.  One man whose name was Jim O'Connell said that he played in the NBA in the 90’s.  He played for the Denver Nuggets and then was traded to the Dallas Mavericks.  He said he played with some of the best in the game including Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dikembe Mutombo, David Robinson and Shaquille O’ Neal.  I was really surprised by this.  He told us that he was getting payed around $275,00 a year and that was the minimum for a rookie at the time.  He eventually quit and decided to become a sales person.

Today was Career Day and it has been really fantastic. Different people from all classes of careers came to our school to tell us what is their role in the career. One of my favorites was
The women called Ms. Christine and she is an Educator. She works at the  aquarium and also she works with animals. Also my other favorite person was two professional actresses. They were talking about what do you need to be a great actress. Like you have to be dramatic, show emotion. Then they did a puppet show where it was really good, she made the puppet sing and it was really awesome.

Las persona que yo vi fue de la MTA y  Cristine. Ellos estaban hablando de su trabajo  y como ellos llegaron allí. Y los mas interesante fue cuando MTA  estaba hablando de su trabajo, como ella  trabaja en el tren y como ella ayuda a la personas cuando están perdidos. Para trabajar ahi ella tubo que  estar dos años en la universidad. Su trabajo es   vender metro card  y ella tambien es como una guía. Yo quisiera trabajar también como ella trabaja. Pero por favor no se olviden de que si ustede quieren trabajar tienen que pasar college  para buscar un trabajo. No es facíl  encontrar un trabajo, pero si van a college ello los pueden ayudar  a buscar un trabajo. Y  yo tambien escuche de Ms. Cristine  el trabajo de ella es en un acuario ella trabaja con animales y ella estudio en college por 7 años y ella tubo  QUE COJER CLASE DE CIENCIA PARA QUE ELLA PUEDA AYUDAR a los animales. Bueno eso es todo  lo que le tengo que decirle pero yo aprendí mucho de ello.

Gracias a los presentadores por venir a nuestra escuela P.S.89. Talvez los veo el proximo año.  Gracias a quien le hablo para que venieran a nuestra escuela a  hablarnos sobre su trabajo.

Today was career day and I so much fun, I love all the jobs like community organizer, salesperson and more. What I loved more was that we didn’t have classes or have homework.There were many things that I liked especially the man who was a dancer and the actresses.What I thought was boring was when people were asking questions. I wanted to see a little bit more moving than talking. What I thought was funny and exciting was when the teachers were modeling (Mr Marcel told us that if we clapped for him he will give us 5 points although I don’t believe it) and finally I hope we have Career Day next year.

En career day yo vi a una diseñadora de uñas y cabello. Era muy divertido porque nos enseño  uñas y otras cosas pero la mejor cosa fue cuando fuimos al gimnasio. Allí un DJ nos puso algunas canciones que eran muy divertidas y también cuando los profesores salieron al escenario y al final fue cuando un balarin fue y nos habló como él hace los bailes y como fue el primer día de sus clases.

Today  May 31, 2013, Ms, Sasha organized the  first ever Annual Career Day. It was amazing! We got time out from our classes and we met people who have different titles and work in different places.  This First Annual Career Day was hosted by Ms.Sasha. For example,  “V’’, abbreviation of his name, came in and talked about how he is an engineer  and accountant. He told a lot of different things of his life from where he works to what are the benefits and drawbacks of this job. It was really amazing and appreciate all the work this men and women did to come and be able to help us and inspire us of what to do and what is like to have a job.

It’s the end of the year and I had a lot of ups and downs during the year. First I want to talk about the new teachers I had. I met one new teachers this year. She  was very nice, her name was Ms. Hasidyah  and she was very helpful to me at the beginning of the year. When I was was having a hard time getting myself  together she talked to me and told everything was going to alright and that she was going to make sure that I will do alright she would help me.

Also want to talk about new teachers I met in Learning Center. There were very nice to me and they help me with my homework.

IT’S THE END OF THE YEAR AND...

I want to get the most fun I can get because this is the last year at PS 89 and this year I have ladies to enjoy. I never going to forget my only real friend that I have in my whole life. My friend that I have now is the best thing that happened to me. When I came to this country i never realized that I was going to have a lot of friends in only 2 weeks.

Is the end of the year and everyone expects to pass the state test.  Everyone is planning on going to their country for summer, have a good time and relax, especially me.  I’m also planning on not going to summer school, which everyone is doing too.  What is sad is that all the programs are going to finish, like my program which is girls track and lit mag, those are best programs.  The best thing that happen over the year was all the events that we had, like walk to school day, book fair, write to read day, aids walk, winter formal, aloha dance, art fair, and parent teacher conference, the big one.

yo quiero pasar de grado  para ir al octavo grado y despues ir a la secundaria. Y quiero que mi mamá este orgullosa de mi. Tengo una maestra nueva y ella me ayudado en leer y también me corrige cuando hago algo mal.

Este año tengo amigos/as nuevos de otro pais que nunca he visitado. Ello son de Honduras, puerto rico, españa  , y  dominicano/a. Este año mi parte favorita es la feria de libro. Compre unos libro que me encantaban mucho.

School has come to an end which means summer vacation.The beach,the cool breeze and ice cream is the word that describe summer.I love summer but I have some good memories in school too like the time that we play jeopardy in class and my team almost won.A bad memories like when I started 6th grade they gave me homework for math,science, English and Spanish and I wasn’t adapted to getting some much homework.And  since I was new to this school I felt very welcomed to the school.  Finally I am really sad to leave my teachers there are kind they helped me  with my homework and were like my friends.

 

Lit mag was a part of the fun of being in school.On reason that I like lit mag is that I got to give advice to people.Another reason that I like we got to write our own announcement for the poetry contest.Also what I did this year in lit mag was investigate about the robbing of iPhones, iPods and another silly thing that kids shouldn’t  bring to school but bring them anyway.I hope I get to go to lit mag next because I really enjoyed it.What I like about lit mag is that I got to meet ms Celina i always think of her a cool teacher because she is.

MY LIFE

It’s the end of the year and  I have a lot of good things that have  happen to me and I thank God and my family for all this progress I have had through my life scenes I have enter this country . The highlight   of  this year are  actually  4 things. The first thing was that I got the honor to be in the wall of honor and plus I got to be the top student  in middle school and that was a huge honor that I accomplish thanks to God and my parents.  The second thing that was also a huge honor was when I got to be student of the month because  that never went  through  my mind that I would get this chance. The third thing is that  I got the opportunity to get into a video game competition with my group  and I would attend  it this June 4th and I  am so happy for what is upcoming in  my life right  now. Last but not least was that I got to go into a program, afterschool, that I get to stay up to 5:15 and I got to go to Minors and Choices my  choice is mouse squad and my minor is  Lit Mag and I enjoy both of them a lot.

Dream Big, Do Big

But next year high school, I’ll be on the school basketball court.
