7th and 8th Grade Food Challenge

89 Magazine’s Roving Reporter, Adelby Martinez was asking 7th and 8th grade students how the food challenge was going for their SLA class. Students had the choice to be a vegetarian for a day or to skip caffeine, dairy, carbohydrates, or sugar for a day. Adelby interviewed them as they struggled to do their challenge.

 he said “ the food challenge is going good because is not a hard stuff to be a vegetarian for me.
It was hard to complete the challenge when u see food u want to eat?
 he said “ its easy to do it for one day”

he said “ i would not keep up with my challenge because it a little weird to be a vegetarian it’s very hard sometimes but not all the time”

I was  talking

to my friend and she asked

“Audrey who’s your crush? “

        I was like    

“you  know this person   who play basketball a    lot  “

      She started saying names

and as she got close

to the name

my heart was bursting  out

                          

     I was so scared  

because I was frightened

that if I told her she would know

and express it to the world  

that I like this guy

But she didn’t

because that is what true friends

are for

to be right by your side

You have a heart as wide

as this world,

you are always right there,

you are the right guy

Your love is what helps me be who I am!

You are  special as Pluto

My passion is as strong as you

I will like you to see that I fell for you

You make my heart dance and sing

I got a girl, we’re in love, she’s my money, she’s my honey

MAYBE THE WORST VOLLEYBALL INJURY I’VE EVER HAD

HI. I’M RALIA. TODAY I WAS PLAYING VOLLEYBALL. I WAS TRYING TO HIT THE BALL AND I JUST HIT THE AIR SO I FELL. WELL THAT HAPPENS TO ME ALMOST ALL THE TIME, IT WAS SO BAD BECAUSE I HAD GET OUT OF THE GAME. AFTER THE GAME WAS FINISH, I WHEN TO THE GAME AGAIN AND I DID THE SAME THING, AND I GOT OUT OF THE GAME AGAIN . I GUESS THAT’S WHY THEY CALL IT ELIMINATION VOLLEYBALL.

I GUESS I WASN’T THE ONLY ONE WHO’S HAD A VOLLEYBALL CATASTROPHE. I ASKED OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR VOLLEYBALL MISHAPS.

“ONCE I WAS SUPPOSE TO HIT THE VOLLEYBALL BUT I DIDN’T SO IT HIT ME,” ERNESTO SAID.

“I FELL ON THE FLOOR BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO HIT THE VOLLEYBALL AND I ALMOST BROKE MY HAND,” BRITNEY SAID.

“I TOLD MY SISTER HOW TO SERVE THE VOLLEYBALL AND SHE SERVED IT CORRECTLY BUT THEN THE BALL HIT ME IN THE EYE,” SAID ABIGAIL.

WHAT WAS THE WORSE VOLLEYBALL INJURY YOU EVER HAD?
“I WAS PLAYING WITH MY BROTHER AND HE SPIKED THE BALL TO ME AND I THREW MY SELF TO THE FLOOR TO HIT AND MY SKIN OPEN A LITTLE AND IT HURT A LOT,” SAID ADELBY.

YEAH, THAT’S BAD.

Narrativas de Comida--¿Como les fue con su reta de comida?

Los estudiantes en las clases de español con Ms. Celina aceptaron una reta de comida este enero. Ellos escogieron una reta de un día que se trataba con su dieta. Ellos eligieron entre cinco opciones:

• ser vegetariano por un día
• no comer carbohidratos por un día
• no comer azúcar por un día
• no beber cafeína por un día
• no comer productos lácteos por un día

Vamos a ver como les fue. Ellos escribieron cortos relatos para describir (de una manera dramática) sus triunfos y derrotas con la reta de comida.
